Kruger Bush Campers didn’t begin as a company. It began with a feeling—one I didn’t fully understand until I was standing with my family in the heart of Africa.
My wife and I have camped all our lives. As a kid, I camped tents in the mountains, sleeping under the stars. Later, it was RVs and campgrounds—pulling in, hooking up, and calling it a vacation. And don’t get me wrong, there were great times. But the farther we got from the dirt, the fire, and the silence, the more it felt like something was missing.
That all changed in Africa. The campers there were different, not just built to go anywhere for leisure, but made for people who had to. Roads washed out, terrain untamed, no apps telling you what’s nearby. And that’s the point. These weren’t trailers for the weekend. They were for the journey. And for the first time in a long time, I felt something shift.
I didn’t just want to camp. I wanted to reconnect. With the land. With myself. But most of all, with my family.
Because when you’re out there, really out there, something powerful happens. There’s no Wi-Fi. No screens. No distractions. You build your camp together. You cook, clean, explore, and figure things out as a team. And in those little moments, those shared struggles, those quiet wins, you bond in a way that sticks. That becomes part of your family story.
That’s what Kruger Bush Campers has given me. Not just a way to explore wild places but a way to raise kids who know how to build a fire and tell a story. A way to spend nights looking at the stars instead of the screen. A way to slow down and feel the time, not just fill it.
It’s become our tradition. Our reset. The place we laugh hardest and talk the most. And if I’ve learned anything, it’s that the further you go off the grid, the closer you get to the people you love.
I built Kruger Bush Campers because I wanted that experience to be possible for anyone willing to chase it. It’s not just about camping. It’s about connection. And I’m grateful every day for what it’s given me.
